It strikes us,

         In the

                                    Q     u     i      e       t

The loneliness is

                    Overbearing.

Leaves us gasping for air,
Air that never feels fulfilling.

And we wait . . .

                       Alone.
                                     In the

                                                       d          a         r        k .

Waiting for some change to occur.

Even as we fear,

                That it won’t appear.

We wait.

And we handle our marbles,
       One over the other,
       Over the other.

Their fingers gripping each other,
       Glinting in the dim light,
               Clinking together tight.

And we whisper,
                Softly.

To ourselves –
Just to provide some sweet, twisted comfort.

Just to be reminded –

That we are

                          W          h         o         l         e

That we are

                          Want                 ed

That we have a desire,
                         Burning on the inside....

It makes the nights sweeter,
The hope for sunrise stronger –

Even when the hour comes,
And all we see . . .

                            Are the shadows.

Because maybe,
       Just maybe,

We will also, one day, see the light
That causes them –

And one day, we will feel together,
Recognize our strengths,
Battle our wounds,
Remain at large.

Even if today we see the shadows,
Maybe tomorrow we will see the stars.
=)

I found this piece in a really spectacular kind of way. I was reading over 4 (this was one of them) of my untitled poetry works from 2013 and the first 3 piles were quite heavy and down and so when I got to this piece, I was not expecting what promise, beauty, inspiration and hope that I found came out of it while I read along.

I honestly got teary eyed by the middle and significantly at the end -- those last two lines, gosh they are just so perfect.
I absolutely love and adore this piece - I hadn't even remembered writing it! The surprise was so sweet and wonderful though

This piece has everything to do with hope. I can't say anything more than what's been written within it! It's gorgeous and lovely and I hope that you're able to find that in it too, like I have. :huggle:

I'm happy to be giving this the title it deserves. It may not scratch the surface of it, but maybe with that there may pack an unexpected punch. ;)

As my notes indicate: I wrote this piece in the spur of the moment, was feeling a tad odd but it wound up working and I was feeling a little stuck in my situation and tired too. Probably the best tired poem though ahahha.

"Leaves us gasping for air,
Air that never feels fulfilling."

This line has shocked me because it's so true, so relateable, but yet so abstract and a bit scary.

The whole poem is amazing and well thought; the choice of words, the composition...everything fits so perfectly. I literally got goose bumps :3

I can't wait to read more of your poems ^-^
